Day 6: Host Your Social Workshop

We’re finally here! It’s time to host your first Social Workshop! Are you excited?

If you’ve gotten this far, it means that you have:

  1. Defined your community’s shared purpose and created personas to represent your members.
  2. Set up your email database and online forms to capture the desired information from your community members.
  3. Selected a topic for your first Social Workshop and set it up in Remo.
  4. Recorded your Listicle Interview.
  5. Invited people to register for your event.

Now let’s take a closer look at how we can ensure that your workshop goes smoothly:

Ask your speakers to log in early.

Even though you've pre-recorded the main presentation, you will want your speaker at your event to answer any questions the attendees might have after they watch the Listicle Interview.

To ensure the success of your Social Workshop, it is important for the speaker to log in early and test their equipment. This will help ensure that everything is working correctly. Remo allows you to designate your speaker as an Event Assistant who can enter the event before it starts for the rest of your attendees. This will help to prevent technical difficulties or delays during the event, which can be a major hassle and frustrating for all parties.

It’s also a great idea to provide the speaker with your cell phone number so they can call you in case of an emergency. This way, you can quickly troubleshoot any issues and keep the event running smoothly.

Roam the event to see if anybody has technical issues.

Ensuring that all your attendees are comfortable and enjoying their experience should be your top priority. The last thing anyone wants is for technical difficulties to hinder the success and fun of a virtual event. That's why it's important to be proactive and greet each attendee as they enter by moving from virtual table to virtual table. Not only does this show your guests that you care about their experience; it also allows you to quickly troubleshoot any issues that arise.

To make sure that you are able to take care of any problems that arise, it's wise to have a list of commonly occurring technical problems and their corresponding solutions. By having this checklist on hand, you can quickly and systematically help attendees who are having trouble. This list should include key questions that can help you diagnose the problem, such as the attendee's operating system, browser, and other relevant technical specifications. With this information at your fingertips, you'll be well-prepared to troubleshoot any technical difficulties that may arise during your virtual event.

Introduce People

As the host of the Social Workshop, you have a unique opportunity to create connections among attendees who share similar interests and goals. One effective way to accomplish this is by personally introducing people to each other who may not have otherwise met.

Recommendation:

Keep a list of attendees and their registration information on hand. This will help you identify opportunities to introduce people who may have something in common.

Begin The Presentation

After an initial networking period, it's time to dive into the main presentation. Cue up the pre-recorded Listicle Interview and encourage your attendees to engage with the material as it unfolds.

Don't let the fact that it's pre-recorded deter your audience from actively participating in the experience. Use the chat function to encourage questions and comments. And for those moments when words won't suffice, the emoji buttons allow for real-time responses to what's being said. By doing so, you're fostering a dynamic environment that keeps attendees involved and invested in what's happening.

Host Q&A

Consider hosting a live question and answer session with your guest after your pre-recorded presentation. Not only will this give attendees the opportunity to interact with your guest expert on a more personal level, but it also adds an extra incentive for people to attend your event. Plus, since it won't be recorded, attendees will feel privileged to have access to exclusive information.

After the Q&A, allow your attendees to continue to mingle with one another.
